I liked your picture when I first saw it but I appreciate it even more after you explained how you produced it.
Your physics explanation discussing a variety of concepts is very well written.
I hope that you can come to next year's class and set it up as a demo and teach these concepts to the class, What do you think? Deal?dgendehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02179741683558253638noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7412863127908270508.post-70933822215382736232010-04-27T20:11:26.564-05:002010-04-27T20:11:26.564-05:00Wow! The light bulb at the end was a nice added touch and took the picture to the next level.

I'm going to borrow this idea for a demonstration in my class and couple it with a red laser at the same time. Great job.Brian Carpenterhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07005159787332407378noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7412863127908270508.post-89460399317525930512010-04-27T19:35:29.760-05:002010-04-27T19:35:29.760-05:00I was reading along and almost fell out of my chai...I was reading along and almost fell out of my chair when I reached the power rating of your green laser. Even though you put in 5mW, my feeble vision saw 5MW!!! LOL. I thought I was going to have to have a teacher-to-teacher discussion with Ms. Gende.

I think you did a really good job explaining lasers and refraction. To most students, lasers are just some magical light source. In fact, the science behind the production of laser light is fascinating (but then, of course, I'm a physics teacher, right?). I am most amazed by the spontaneous chain reaction of photon production that occurs as long as external power is supplied to the laser.

Keep up the great work!Mr. Dunkhttp://www.pearlandisd.org/webpages/mdunknoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7412863127908270508.post-63881562023051214932010-04-27T18:26:21.442-05:002010-04-27T18:26:21.442-05:00Green lasers are some of my favorite physics toys....Green lasers are some of my favorite physics toys. I am so impressed by the ability of all of you guys to explain some very abstract concepts using photos!

This image is really good in that it has really high contrast (of which I am a HUGE fan). Love it!

I also appreciate that you added a link to a game. The green laser was perfect for this picture and you really demonstrated well the ideas of reflection and refraction.
